Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano – A compact piano with the sound and features to satisfy the needs of advanced players
Yamaha P-225 Digital Pianos are loved by piano players around the world who want the comfortable feel of an acoustic piano in an instrument with a more manageable size and weight.
Compared to its predecessor, the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano features a much shorter and thinner body design with a compact style. This model looks beautiful from any angle, and blends in well with any room. To achieve a smaller product chassis, we developed the new GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) keyboard (88 keys), which is built to uncompromising standards and offers the same weighted acoustic piano-like playing feel as the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keys used in previous models in the P Series.
The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano features the sounds of Yamaha’s premier concert grand piano, the CFX, and this model uses Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite technology to replicate the expressive moment-by-moment tonal changes that occur in a real grand piano.
Whether you are an advanced piano player or a serious beginner with a desire to learn to play, the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano is the perfect choice.
We recommend this model for:
– Players who are looking for a weighted keyboard that feels like an acoustic piano
– People who want a piano in their house but don’t have much space for it
– People who want a second piano
Newly developed GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) keyboard offers a realistic playing feel
One of the main concerns of piano players when purchasing a digital piano is related to the feel of the keyboard when they play.
Some of the things that players are specifically concerned with include whether they can feel the weight of the keys in their fingers as with a weighted acoustic piano keyboard; whether the keyboard will respond accurately when they play quicker passages; whether there are any inconsistencies between how hard they play the keys and the sound that results; and whether the keyboard offers a sufficient soft-to-loud dynamic range.
The GHS keyboards used in the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano thus far have received high praise from customers for the excellent balance and ease of playing that was mentioned above.
The newly developed and more compact GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) keyboard on the new Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano reproduces the playing comfort of its predecessors in every way.
Further, the keyboard unit is more compact than in previous models, while still offering an outstanding playing feel.
The sound of Yamaha’s premier concert grand piano, the CFX
The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano gives you the sound of Yamaha’s top-of-the-line CFX concert grand, with shimmering highs and powerful lows. This model is equipped with Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite, a digital technology that realistically reproduces the complex resonance produced by the strings of a grand piano, changing each time according to how the keys are pressed. With the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano, you can enjoy the sound of a concert grand that’s played and loved by renowned pianists, along with its infinitely realistic resonance. Of course, this instrument doesn’t require tuning.
Place the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano wherever you like, or even take it with you
One trouble that plagues pianists is that the traditional piano is often too large to fit into a room. To add to this, piano players can’t take their instruments out with them. The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano provides a brilliant solution to these problems. The stylish design of this instrument blends well with any room, and is available in black or white color variations to match the mood. With the optional soft case, you can take this instrument with you to the studio, to live gigs or on a trip—whenever you need it.
- Voices
The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano features 24 Voices. In addition to several grand piano voices including Yamaha’s premier concert grand CFX sound, you can enjoy a wide variety of highly practical voices for keyboard players, including Stage E.Piano, DX E.Piano, Jazz Organ, Strings and more.
The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano also features E.Clavichord and Vibraphone Voices.
- Songs
The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano comes with 71 preset songs, including 21 demo songs that are appropriate for each Voice, such as grand piano, electric piano, various organs, harpsichords including Jazz Organ, E.Clavichord, Vibraphone and so forth. We encourage you to listen to these demo songs, which cover a variety of genres from light classical to baroque masterpieces, R&B, pop music and more, to get an idea of how the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano opens up possibilities for your musical expression.
- Headphones connectivity
One of the greatest advantages of a digital piano is the ability to practice while listening to what you play through headphones. This solves the problem of not wanting to disturb family members or neighbors when you play, not to mention eliminating the need for them to hear your playing when it’s not at its best.

With a design that pays homage to the classic aesthetic of a grand piano, the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano blends well with the interior of any home, and is intended to offer the player the true feeling of playing a grand.
Other features
- Button-style interface that makes it easy for anyone to use
- Two-way speaker system delivers expansive sound
The position and angle of the speakers on both the front and back of the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano were adjusted to reproduce the sounds reflected from the soundboard and lid of an acoustic grand piano as closely as possible. This placement offers the player a comfortable sonic environment when the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano is placed against a wall.
A tone escapement has also been installed on this instrument to make the sound clearer and more readily heard, bringing the best acoustic balance to the player.
In addition to the speakers that offer sharp and clear mid- to high-range tones and prominent low-end for a well-balanced sound, the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano speakers feature tweeters for a richer high-end tone.
- Practice with 303 free pieces of classical sheet music
- Sound that’s clearly distinguishable even at low volumes, reducing sonic fatigue
Have you ever turned down the volume because you were worried about sound leaking into the surrounding environment, only to find that the instrument becomes harder to hear or that it’s less rewarding to play? The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano is equipped with Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC), which automatically adjusts the sound quality according to your volume settings. This system makes it easier to hear the sound you play by slightly raising the volume of the treble and bass parts to match the characteristics of the human ear, which typically has trouble distinguishing the higher- and lower-end ranges at low volumes.
The Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano now offers this feature for when you are using headphones. This makes it easier on your ears and allows you to enjoy playing comfortably, even when you practice with headphones for long periods of time.
- Dedicated optional stand and three-pedal unit available for a more authentic performance experience
For those who want to really play the Yamaha P-225 Digital Piano instead of enjoying it casually on a tabletop, we offer an optional L-200 stand and LP-1 three-pedal unit that provide the same features as you would find on a grand piano (including a damper pedal that supports half-pedaling).
Using the stand provides stability, proper height, and correct posture when you play, and adding the sustain pedal lets you enjoy a more authentic style of performing.
As a sustain pedal, we offer the FC3A, which supports half-pedaling.
